The SoundBox is a space at The Hive which Luke Armstrong and I founded in  order to fill a gap in the Claremont College creative community for those who wanted to freely record and collaborate on music.
We raised $10,000 for equipment and programming to create a platform for students to collaborate and perform their music alongside headliners (Jordan Hawkins, Drelli, Asiatica, and others).  Additionally, we put together regular workshops, studio sessions, and showcases to build skills and incentivize students to express their creative spirit.
This was a two-year iterative labor of love and collaboration which I'm proud to have left behind for generations of creatives to come :)
We.IMININT Fall Showcase 2022 Recap
In our last year we raised $6,500 in collaboration with the Holmes Foundation, The Hive, and The Office of Black Student Affairs we had our headliner Drelli give an amazing show alongside vendors and student artists showcasing their work and over 15 student performers.
We.IMININT Spring Showcase 2022 Recap
This year was an electric crowd as we partnered with ASPC and HMC Jam Society to put on an intimate yet lit show for graduating seniors and supporters of student artists.
B.IMININT Fall Showcase 2021 Recap
This is a recap for the first showcase we did. In collaboration with The Hive, 5C Musician's Coalition, and The Hive we were able to feature 9 performing artists in front of a crowd of 150 people.
This was before we were even called We.IMININT!
What I love most about this project is the lasting impact The SoundBox has had on the Claremont College campus since its inception in Aug 2021!
The Hive continues to do biannual showcases, more frequent "Tiny Patio" performances for emerging and professional artists, as well as Maker Markets for non-performance-based (jewelry, woodwork, screen printing, etc.) student creators to share their artwork.
