The most impactful part of this journey was
meeting the people of the Rangwe village in Homa Bay County, Kenya

My main impact (outside of continual administrative tasks that come with a start-up) was in design:
1. Going through the Human Centered process with a group of students to foster genuine community engagement among students while emphasizing joy, creativity, and sustainability called The Oasis
2. Going through the Human Centered Design process to uncover our true meaning and purpose out how we communicated our brand
3. Creating meaningful designs on the bottles
The Design Process
The team conducted interviews with stakeholders and researched similar programs, focusing on how to engage students effectively. Early prototypes included events, workshops, and engagement spaces but evolved to prioritize a singular impactful experience, leading to the design of The Oasis, a community space for reflection and education on water conservation.
The Oasis @ The New School, The Hive, Meow Wolf
The Oasis grew beyond the initial instance in the summer of 2022. We have since brought 5+ Oases to life across the United States! For the our partners that requested an Oasis for their campus or place of business I would customize the stickers, posters, and signage. View some of the highlights below:
The main goal of the Oasis was to bring joy and community into the act of giving back. Below are some highlight moments that exemplify the fun and color that come with making an impact.
The New School invited Didomi out to put the Oasis for a group of their students! My role involved designing, printing, managing budget, and MCing the event itself. Watch the video above to see what you missed :)
Using Human Centered Design we developed an event to bring awareness and fun to combatting the water crisis called The Oasis. Our first iteration of this in collaboration with the Hive saw 100+ students lining up before the event and engaging ç the water crisis by custom painting their bottles with information about the water crisis.
Providing Water in Kenya
Since founding Didomi we have funded over 7 water projects, however in December of 2023 we visited our water project for the Rangwe Village in Homa Bay County, Kenya. Meeting the engineer, community leaders, and beneficiaries of the water pump was the most rewarding activity of this whole project. I hope to do this again many times in the future - bringing water to more villages in need and showing more of those not directly affected by the water crisis what it means to make an impact.
Meaningful Design - Artist Collaboration
We have also worked directly with over 20 artists to tell the story of the water crisis in unique ways by showcasing their personal stories of the water crisis on one of one bottles. We would auction these off to members of our community
Below are some select bottles alongside the story that they tell:

This video in particular was put together by Alfredo Quiroz and talks about how his design honors his people's indigineous ceremony of water giving life.
Meaningful Design - Baobab Bottles
We also create unique designs to tell the story of the water crisis in a way that sparks conversation and educates our customers. For example the design of the Baobab Bottle represents the Baobab The.
The Baobab tree stands out due to it’s large and unique features, and thus is used as a gathering place for communities. For similar reasons the didomi bottle represents a beacon for the community to gather around to create change.
The leaves on the bottle are representative of the leaves of the Baobab tree which surround the super fruit it grows. Eating the super fruit helps to treat symptoms of waterborne diseases and dehydration like diarrhea, inflammation, high blood sugar
